I have been writing about sports since I was 14 years old, beginning my career in 1978 for $5 a story at the News-Tribune in Beaver Falls, Pa., and am still motivated and challenged by the craft all these years later. My career has primarily centered around covering Major League Baseball since 1988. I have numerous national, regional and local awards for my writing with the highlight being named MLB Writer of the Year by SportsTalk.com (now ESPN-Plus). I have also reported on and written about many other sports, including the NFL, NHL, college basketball, college football and high school athletics. I have pretty much done it all from covering Game 7 of the World Series to a youth football league championship game.
