Claim your profileMeet John-Carlos Estrada, your anchor on CBS Austin This Morning weekdays from 4:30 am to 7 am.With 15 years of experience in the industry, John-Carlos has anchored and reported in various cities, including Fort Myers, Florida, Lufkin, Texas, and Victoria, Texas.Before his on-air career, he worked as a network producer in New York City and Washington, D.C.His outstanding work has been recognized by respected organizations, including the GLAAD Media Awards, Telly Awards, Lone Star EMMYs, Texas Association of Broadcasters, and the Florida chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.He’s also been recognized as one of Austin’s best TV anchors/reporters by both the Austin Chronicle and the Austin Under 40 Awards.In addition to his broadcasting achievements, John-Carlos directed and produced the award-winning documentary 'Barbette + Fontaine,' inspired by an award-winning feature story he reported for CBS Austin. This documentary sheds light on the captivating journey of Barbette, a drag artist from Round Rock, Texas, who achieved international fame in the 1920s and 1930s.A proud graduate of Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and The George Washington University, John-Carlos's roots trace back to Dallas, where he was born and raised in the suburb of Garland, Texas. Estrada has dual citizenship with Mexico.Outside of work, John-Carlos enjoys exploring Austin with his husband, Bruce, and his two stepchildren, Carson and Ainsley.
