My experiences serving as both a writer and associate editor, as well as my skills in both promotion and communication, will allow me to immediately add value to your team. During my years as an arts reporter for the Davis Clipper, I had the opportunity to craft narrative features about a variety of artists and performers with local ties. In other sections of the newspaper, I was able to develop stories that explained complex information relevant to our readership in a way that was easy for them to understand. As associate editor, I served at times as the primary editor for both the newspaper and one of our subsidiary magazines, gaining invaluable experience in managing content from several sources, tracking different projects, producing necessary content at a moment's notice, and consistently meeting deadlines not only for my own work but the project as a whole. I have at times laid out whole sections of the paper and/or various magazines, and am deeply comfortable using Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop and the Microsoft Office suite. Though the publisher’s reluctance to embrace social media hampered my efforts, I strove at every opportunity to promote stories across the paper’s social media accounts and increase engagement with the public in any way possible. I have won several industry awards for my work, both from the Utah Press Association and the Society of Professional Journalists. I have also developed lasting relationships with a variety of local figures as I strove to both promote their work in the community and increase the paper's relevance for its readership.Throughout my career, I have proven my ability to meet any challenges head-on and deliver both successful and engaging work
