Claim your profileI'm an award-winning journalist and features writer at New York Magazine. I write about Wall Street, business, and cryptocurrency. My recent work includes an investigative cover story on the downfall of the crypto hedge fund Three Arrows Capital and the first published interview with Sam Bankman-Fried following the collapse of FTX. My last name is pronounced vee-ETCH-ner. I was previously a senior writer at Fortune Magazine, where I co-founded The Ledger, an initiative dedicated to the intersection of money and tech. My stories include a profile of hedge fund billionaire Steve Cohen—including his first interview since a record-breaking insider trading scandal; a cover story on the cannabis boom; an investigation into an alarming pattern of hacks at leading Bitcoin exchange Coinbase; and an award-winning feature about Paul Singer's hedge fund Elliott Management, and the controversial tactics that have helped make it today's most successful activist investor. I have also profiled business executives including Meg Whitman, Mylan CEO Heather Bresch, and Athenahealth CEO Jonathan Bush. In 2020, I received first place in magazine feature writing in the National Headliner Awards, as well as a SABEW Best in Business Award for markets coverage (the second time I have received that honor). I was also the recipient of the NYU Cyber Journalism Award in 2018, and a winner of the 2017 American Society of Magazine Editors “Next” Award honoring journalists under 30. I have also written for The Wall Street Journal, MarketWatch, SmartMoney, The Atlantic, Fast Company, WSJ.Money, New York, Edible Manhattan, Boston, Glamour, Harvard Summer Review and Marie Claire. Originally from Boston, I graduated from Northwestern University with a B.S. in journalism. You can reach me with tips and story ideas at jen.wieczner@nymag.com.
