Throughout my career as a reporter, I have wielded my pen in defense of the neglected, overlooked, and disregarded–unearthing truths that demand attention. From unveiling the deportation of immigrants at the Gary airport to shedding light on the disproportionate punishment of Black students in an urban Ohio school district, my work has been driven by a commitment to expose injustices and ignite positive change. I have explored the reverberations of violence in Chicago on grief-stricken pastors conducting weekly funeral services and uncovered discrimination within the EEOC, the federal organization entrusted with safeguarding the rights of minorities in the workplace. In every pursuit, I have strived to have meaningful impact, pedestal the unheard and champion the truth. Now, I'm embarking on a new chapter, a journey to help launch a newsroom in my beloved hometown of Gary.
