Claim your profileNow, as Community Voices Editor at The Berkshire Eagle, I'm enjoying learning Berkshire County and reporting about stories of regional and local interest, from features on estate sales and haying to stories on issues of impact to small towns. As a staff reporter at the Cleveland Jewish News and the Cleveland Jewish Publication Company, I was honored for my work by the Associated Press Managing Editors of Ohio, the American Jewish Publication Association and the Society of Professional Journalists.Along the way, I've also picked up a certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language at the International Language Institute of Northampton, a challenging hands-on intensive training that was a refreshing change of pace. In addition, I enjoy coaching writers on the side. Feel free to contact me for help. And somehow, I picked up two certificates in culinary arts: one from Holyoke Community College and the second, in baking and pastry, from the New England Culinary Institute. At The Republican, I edited "Our Stories: The Jews of Western Massachusetts." Leading the project from start to finish involved recruiting the book's dozen contributors, combing archives for photographs, interviewing dozens of people, organizing the structure of the book and seeing it to fruition. In addition, I spent the 2014 state election season writing editorials for The Republican and MassLive.com. The 168-page coffee table book was produced in just six months.
