I feature an extensive background in journalism -- sports writing, photography and videography. I also have experience copy editing. I have worked in the daily and weekly newspaper field, transitioning to the digital component and building a brand using social media tools. I pioneered expanded/extensive youth sports coverage for the Miami Herald in Broward County, the Miami Herald in Miami Dade County and the Palm Beach Post. My focus these days is combat sports, interviewing MMA fighters and pro wrestlers. I have also worked in the community, creating and implementing programs with the Miami Heat and Miami Marlins to honor youth in sports for good efforts (academically and in the community). I also expanded an established mentorship program within our workplace which offered local high school students interested in the field the opportunity to learn from journalists. In my expanded program, students learned to write (AP stylebook) and developed the necessary skills to interview people for their stories, which were published in the newspaper and online. They also worked on TV reporting, gaining some experience in that field, too. In cooperation with the Miami Heat and Sun Sports Florida, they also participated in seminars with experienced sports journalists, television sports producers, sports radio broadcasters, sports marketing specialists, sports public relations associates, sports media representatives and media executive and recruiters.
