Claim your profileHello. I’m James Sweetnam, a Broadcast Journalist who specialises in sports, showbiz, and news stories on both sides of the Atlantic.I currently work with The Daily Mirror, The Daily Star, Sporf and Bloody Elbow, with each of these roles giving me an exciting opportunity to explore fascinating areas of the industry. My career has taken me around the world, covering sporting events in remarkable locations. I’ve reported at Formula E races in Brazil and Mexico, the Red Bull Street Style Global Championships in Belgium, and mixed martial arts fight nights with the UFC, PFL, Oktagon MMA and Hexagone MMA in The USA, UK, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany and France.Furthermore, I’ve had the opportunity to offer my analysis during promotional shoots, broadcast on DAZN across Europe and on the big screen to crowds of 20,000 people.I always strive to write articles and conduct interviews with a palpable enthusiasm that engages and entertains viewers and readers, while offering a different angle on what they may already know. Ultimately, I love making people laugh. However, I also possess a genuine passion for telling inspirational tales; whether it be an individual battling back from the brink of going to prison, or fighting on the front line in Afghanistan, I give my all to tell their tale in a way that can give those consuming my content a genuine understanding of the reality of what the person went through.I take massive enjoyment in coming up with wacky ideas that are fun for both the interviewee and the viewers. From letting UFC interim heavyweight champion, Tom Aspinall, punch me in the stomach, to conducting a Leeds quiz for boxing icon, Josh Warrington, where the losing prize was Gary Neville’s autobiography, I’m always trying to think of new and innovative ways that can make my content a little bit different.During my time working in sport, I have interviewed some of the world’s greatest athletes, including John McEnroe, Ricky Hatton, Eddie Hall, Chase Claypool and Gilbert Burns.Furthermore, I cover hard-hitting news stories for The Daily Mirror. The riveting experience of operating in a fast-paced environment, where professionalism and a high standard of writing are of optimum importance, has given me a fantastic opportunity to enhance my skills within the industry.
