Claim your profileI advocate the principles of individual liberty and free markets. My work is characterised by extensive research into the scientific literature and official data. I am a Council Member of the Institute for Race Relations, and write a column for its online newspaper, The Daily Friend, twice a week. I became the very first columnist at the leading South African news site, Daily Maverick in 2009, covering a wide range of topics, from politics and economics to technology and environmentalism. I started out as a journalist in the technology sector in 1993. I have given many talks, on issues ranging from food science to hydraulic fracturing to wildlife conservation. I enjoy chairing events and conferences. I wrote a book on environmental exaggeration and how it harms emerging economies, and debated its subject matter on radio, television and live on stage.
