I am a senior correspondent and a writer for Reuters, currently covering U.S. foreign policy and the State Department. Throughout my 22 years with the company, I have had postings out of London, Dubai, Cairo and Turkey, covering topics ranging from financial markets and energy, to natural disasters and military conflicts. I have developed commodities and energy as an area of expertise and reported on Iran sanctions and OPEC politics. During my time in Turkey between 2013 to 2017, I focused more on covering political stories as well as conflict -- including six election cycles, dozens of bombings, the Kurdish insurgency in the Turkey's southeast, the fallout from Syria's civil war and a failed coup among others. I also frequently traveled to Turkey's border area with Syria, inside Syria and to northern Iraq for reporting assignments. In 2017, I took a year-long sabbatical from Reuters and completed the Knight-Bagehot fellowship at Columbia University’s School of Journalism. In the fall of 2018, I moved to Washington DC to cover the U.S. energy and agriculture policy. In September 2019, I was named as a Senior Foreign Policy Correspondent.
