Claim your profileI have worked as a journalist and editor for more than three decades, and for the past 18 years have been at The Economist. I am currently based on the west coast covering tech. Before that for almost six years I wrote the Schumpeter column on global business. I have been the energy editor, Mexico City bureau chief, Tokyo bureau chief, finance editor and capital-markets editor. Before The Economist I worked at the FT as a writer on the Lex column, as property editor on the Weekend FT, and as Mexico City bureau chief. Before the FT, I worked for Reuters in New York, Washington, Mexico City and Central America. My journalism skills are wide-ranging: I have been a columnist, a writer of long form pieces and human-interest stories for The Economist's 1843, I have written 10,000-word reports on topics ranging from ESG (most recently) to e-commerce, energy geopolitics, new energy technologies and the future of oil, and I am frequently on our podcasts. I am a foreign correspondent at heart, travel widely and love to tell stories.
