Claim your profileGrant McLaughlin is the Clarion Ledger’s state government and legislative reporter in Jackson Mississippi. He has extensively covered the most pressing policy issues facing Mississippians, from Medicaid expansion to suffrage. Prior to his current role, Grant worked at the Commercial Dispatch as a business and economic development reporter and Report For America Region 4 Corp member starting in 2022. From 2022 to 2024, he covered the various legal, business, economic and environmental issues facing the Golden Triangle, from the environmental cleanup of the Kerr-McGee Superfund site in Columbus to some of the state’s largest corporate investment projects, as well as environmental studies. His reporting has also been awarded by the Mississippi Press Association for breaking a story on a $2.5 billion aluminum mill and bio carbon plant project in Lowndes County. Grant is a graduate of the University of Mississippi, where he received a Bachelors of Journalism in 2022. While at Ole Miss, he worked for the campus newspaper The Daily Mississippian and maintained his own arts and news publication The Underground Post. Outside of work, Grant enjoys connecting to nature via poetry, photography and research. Some of his poems have been published in the Land Shark Review.
