My focus is on the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, and California. I'm also interested in the intersection of politics, money and the military. I previously covered Oregon state politics and held various reporting and editing positions at The Orange County Register, ranging from military reporter to travel editor.I've filed stories from all 50 states and over 60 foreign countries. Awards from Pennsylvania, California and Oregon newspaper associations, Society of American Travel Writers, American Legion and others. My favorite: Best Newspaper Coverage in 2000 from The Association of Surfing Professionals. I taught creative writing online for UCLA and organized an advanced writing workshop on campus.
