I'm the geeky guy who knows the backstory of those drugs: how they were discovered, developed, and tested in clinical trials. I’m a longtime business journalist who explains technical matters to industry savvy and lay readers alike. My sweet spot is the intersection of business and biotechnology. I talk to scientists and make their research accessible to patients and investors. I also navigate the business and regulatory progress of therapies, helping people understand the next steps for experimental treatments so that the FDA seems a little less like alphabet soup. My stories include coverage of the progress in Alzheimer’s disease research, discoveries in rare disease drugs, advances in cancer immunotherapy, and the venture capital investments and initial public offerings that fuel all of this R&D.
