I'm a reporter, editor, product thinker and newsroom leader with years of experience working in nonprofit newsrooms. Most recently, I was the Managing Editor at Mountain State Spotlight, an independent civic news organization dedicated to producing "sustained outrage" journalism for the citizens of West Virginia. Previously, I spent more than a decade in public radio, reporting, editing and leading the newsroom at Louisville Public Media. These days, I'm wearing a lot of hats and pursuing journalism projects that pique my curiosity. I'm continuing my work at Mountain State Spotlight, editing reporters and freelancers at 100 Days in Appalachia, and working through a grant from the Knight Foundation to help newsrooms around the country produce comprehensive voter guides for the 2024 election using a Wordpress plugin called Govpack.Want to talk about voter guides, editing, Appalachia, nonprofit journalism or product thinking?
