Claim your profileMy name is Emma Brustkern and I'm a digital content producer at Local 5 News. I've known I wanted to be a journalist since I was 15-years-old, taking an "Introduction to Journalism" class. At Drake University, I dedicated myself to student media, writing for every publication that I could. Now, I'm happy to use the skills that I learned while working in a city I know and love. As a digital content producer, no day looks quite the same. My time is split between covering breaking news, writing and reporting on my own digital stories, scheduling content for social media/streaming and optimizing stories from the latest broadcast for online readers.My work as a journalist is fueled by a love of learning and a love of humanity. Through my reporting, I hope to make complex issues accessible and to represent those whose stories may have been left untold.
