His two-decade career in print and digital media is built on a foundation of personal passion and honed craft—he is a four-season outdoor lover with the soul of a poet, and a journalist with the strategic resume of a career publisher. As the editor-in-chief of Outdoor Retailer magazine and The Daily at the Outdoor Retailer trade show, he raised the publications to a new level of excellence and inclusivty. He is the publisher of Exit 205 magazine and the editor-in-chief of Elevation Outdoors magazine and he has covered the outdoors and conservation in publications including Outside and National Geographic. His work has been recognized by Best American Essays and with a Colorado Council on the Arts fellowship. Before journalism he spent time down in the conservation trenches working to propose new national monuments with The Wilderness Society and Sierra Club and built trails and fought wildfires for the US Forest Service.
