Claim your profileDorissa White began her on-air career as an NPR radio host for WSIU in Carbondale, IL, before moving to New York City on a whim. She landed her first job at NY1, the premier 24/7 news station in the number one television market. At NY1, Dorissa assisted with field production, covering a wide range of stories, including transit, sports, education, crime, and politics, such as the 2016 presidential election. In 2018, Dorissa was hired as a general assignment reporter for BronxNet Television, where she produced hyper-local news stories and profile pieces, including an interview package profiling Dr. Yusef Salaam of the Exonerated Five. The following year, she became an entertainment reporter for The Knockturnal and LL Cool J’s online magazine, Rock the Bells. Throughout her career, Dorissa has interviewed notable celebrities like Tyler Perry, Reese Witherspoon, Phylicia Rashad, Lupita Nyong’o, Brandy, Keke Palmer, and Anne Hathaway, among many others. In 2020, she joined News 12 Bronx and Brooklyn as a general assignment reporter, gaining extensive experience as an MMJ and live reporter, primarily for the network’s 10 p.m. live newscast. Currently, Dorissa is a lifestyle reporter at KMBC 9 News. Alongside her television work, she has built an engaged community of nearly 200K followers on TikTok by sharing affirmations, daily advice, and positive messages. Beyond reporting, Dorissa is an accomplished speaker and moderator. She has led forums for the Bronx Borough President and delivered a TEDx Talk in March 2025 titled "Breaking the News Doesn’t Mean Breaking Your Personality," where she explored the importance of authenticity in journalism. She is also a proud member of NABJ.
