Claim your profileDirisu Chester Yakubu is an Abuja-based journalist, writer and book reviewer with flair for political, policy, economic and diplomatic reportage.Educated at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he graduated with a Second Class, Upper Division in Public Administration, Dirisu also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Mass Communication, ABU, Zaria and his currently a Master's student at the same institution. He is the founder, The Book Gang, a blog solely dedicated to book/article/journal reviews on Facebook.He is currently a senior correspondent at The Punch, Abuja office. Dirisu is an avid reader who previously worked at other media outlets such as Vanguard Newspaper, The Politico, Jesus Christ Newspaper, Champion Newspapers and New Image Magazine, Abuja.In 2014, he worked as consultant editor to the TY Danjuma Foundation. "I write stories that speak to human conditions, pointing out the need to make democracy work for all. I love teaching Journalism courses such as Media Law and Ethics, Theories of Mass Communication, Communication Research, and Crisis Communication, among others," Dirisu said when a colleague asked him to speak briefly on his media sojourn in 2016 at an event in Lagos, South-West Nigeria.Besides journalism, Dirisu is a philanthropist and cultural advocate working behind the scenes for the educational awakening of the less privileged lot in society. Dirisu has two sons, Akwhi (11) and Okhale (9), soccer freaks with ambitions to play for Aston Villa and Liverpool Football Clubs respectively.
