In 2020, I won the Sportscaster of the Year award from the Tennessee Associated Press Broadcasters and Media Editors.I graduated from Georgia State University in December 2018 with a major in journalism and a minor in African-American studies. In my final semester, I served as the in-game anchor for the ESPN+ production of Georgia State football, as well as the official Atlanta Falcons writer for ActionSportsandNews.com.From 2015 to 2018, I served as anchor, reporter, and team leader of Georgia State's student-run sportscast "PrimeTime Sportz". As a reporter, I have covered the NFL Combine, Atlanta Sports Awards, College Football Awards, and all 15 athletic teams at Georgia State. I was named the 5th best TV Journalist by the Southeastern Journalism Conference in 2017. In my two years as team leader, I trained ten student reporters on the uses of a camera, broadcast writing, and editing with Adobe Premiere Pro.Before joining PrimeTime Sportz, I was the Atlanta Falcons head-writer and editor for ProFootballSpot.com. Writing 79 articles during my tenure, I was the most read Falcons writer with an average of 700 reads per article. As editor, I managed five other Falcons writers, teaching them proper AP-style writing. I spent my freshmen year at Hampton University. While at Hampton, I contributed to their weekly student newscast by writing the script for the sports segment. I also volunteered at 88.1 WHOV-FM producing both live and recorded broadcasts. My journalism experience extends into my high school years, as I discovered my passion for sports journalism at the age of 14. As a freshmen and sophomore, I wrote for the youth section of the IndyStar newspaper, Y-Press, and provided NFL scores live on 106.7 WTLC-FM. Y-Press articles were usually posted online, however my very first article was published in the IndyStar. As a junior and senior, I commentated freshmen football games, filmed varsity football games, and served as an anchor for my high school's daily, student-run newscast.
