He is currently the staff writer at Broadway.com. Previously, Darryn served as arts editor at Time Out Sydney, leading a diverse group of freelance contributors in the publication’s coverage of visual art, comedy, classical music, the performing arts and more, while also serving as the publication’s lead theater critic. For more than 20 years, he has served as an editorial lead and project manager for the Hasbro games company, managing international teams of writers, editors and fact-checkers on its Trivial Pursuit games. He has served a similar role for the smartphone game company Fanatee, drawing on his editorial skills to craft engaging wordcentric gameplay for a global audience. Darryn’s writing spans a wide range of subjects—from theater, music and film to architecture, design, technology, video games and the future of work—and has been published in The New York Times, The New Yorker, Vulture, Vanity Fair, Rolling Stone, The Atlantic, The Wall Street Journal, WSJ. Magazine and WIRED. As a strategic copywriter, he has worked with high-profile clients including Christie’s, Microsoft, Indeed, the Brooklyn Academy of Music and Sydney Festival. His fiction has appeared in The Sleepers Almanac and he is the co-author of Crime Fighters: Working for a Safer Australia.
