Claim your profileI create stories — and build worlds around them. Sometimes those worlds are movies (Pill Head, Werewolf Serenade), sometimes they’re alt-weeklies (North Bay Bohemian, Pacific Sun), and sometimes they take the shape of installations disguised as VHS stores, airport bars, or fictional 1980s synth bands. As a writer, filmmaker, and creative lead, I work at the intersection of narrative, media, performance, and persona. Through my personal studio, I develop original intellectual properties, direct films, produce branded and editorial content, and occasionally design experiences that defy easy categorization (or explanation). What I Do: Write and direct independent feature films Reimagine legacy media with fresh editorial strategy Lead creative content and brand storytelling initiatives Produce immersive, narrative-driven experiences Speak and teach about storytelling, media, and cultural disruption Select Work: Pill Head (Amazon Prime) — indie feature film, written/directed/produced Werewolf Serenade (2024) — surrealist rom-com with claws Press Pass — weekly newsletter + podcast on storytelling and media-making Installations including Stairwell Video, Airport Bar, and Le Drama Clüb Editorial leadership at North Bay Bohemian, Pacific Sun, and more Branded content for clients like Mondavi, RCA, Annie’s, Sonoma County Tourism, and others Speaking & Appearances: Keynotes, workshops, and lectures delivered everywhere from California College of the Arts to downtown warehouses and wine bars — all under the banner of conceptual storytelling and media literacy. Let’s connect if you’re into cultural mischief, meaningful media, or just need someone to write the weirdest good thing you’ve ever published. dhowell@dhowell.com | dhowell.com
