Charlotte Smith is currently a Senior Content News Editor at Reach Plc. She manages the company's U35 Money and Lifestyle Content Hub team, which produces content aimed at people under 35 years old for all national and regional publications - including the Daily Mirror, Surrey Live, Manchester Evening News and more. In April 2025, she won Content Editor of the Year award at Reach Plc's first Celebrating Brilliant Journalism Awards ceremony. She previously worked as team leader for the company's Curiously project, producing editorial content aimed at a young demographic across multiple publications. Before then, she was part of Reach Plc's Rapid Content Team and Midlands Network Newsroom (Nottinghamshire Live, Leicestershire Live, Coventry Live, Derby Live and Stoke Live) from July 2022 to March 2023. In September 2022, she successfully passed Reach Plc's Editorial Leadership and Management Inspire Programme. During Spring 2022, she was a Showbiz and Entertainment reporter for the likes of the Daily Star and Daily Mirror. She also worked at numerous regional sites - including Manchester Evening News, Liverpool Echo, Chronicle Live, Yorkshire Live. For four years (2018 - 2022) she was a Trending News Reporter and Video Producer for the Central Video Team at Reach Plc. In May 2021, she successfully passed Reach Plc's Digital Seniors Qualifications and Certificate of Journalism. From January 2017 to September 2018 she worked at The Weather Channel UK as a multimedia journalist, video operator and social media editor, sporadically appearing on the Daily Mirror and other Reach Plc regional publications. From 2013-2016, she studied media and communications specialised in journalism at Birmingham City University, graduating with first class honours. During her time at university, she won the BCU Rod Pilling Award for Journalism 2016, was nominated for the Trinity Mirror Online Journalist of the Year Award 2016 and achieved two Highly Commended awards at the 2016 Midlands Media Awards. She also created her own online fashion magazine, took the role as fashion editor at NUBI Magazine and was a news reporter for various hyperlocal news publications.
