She recently joined the NYT's International desk after nearly two years freelancing with the Live team covering the war in Ukraine. Before that, she worked for "60 Minutes" on CBS after three years freelancing for print and TV outlets on conflict and human rights. Prior to going freelance, she was deputy London editorial manager and a senior writer for NBC News Digital — with particular focus on terrorism and foreign policy. She also was a correspondent for The Associated Press specializing in politics, foreign affairs and defense. Her reporting has taken her throughout Africa, Europe and the Middle East — with a stint in Afghanistan, too. Areas of expertise and personal interest include conflict, foreign policy, Africa, the Middle East, Europe, human rights and migration. Key skills include reporting, breaking news, field production/producing, investigative journalism, covering conflict, enterprise, editing, photojournalism and using social media (Twitter, Facebook, WhoSay and more) for newsgathering and driving engagement.
