As a government and politics reporter at The Commercial Appeal, I cover local politics, policies, and issues that affect the communities in Shelby County, Tennessee. I have received multiple honors for my work, including an honorable mention for best coverage of government from the Missouri Press Association and a finalist for the LIONS Local Journalism Awards for outstanding coverage of a series on homelessness in Columbia, Missouri.I graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a degree in journalism in May 2023, where I gained valuable skills and experience in content creation, writing, and problem solving. I developed a passion for reporting on stories that fall between the cracks of government assistance and outreach, and that highlight the voices and perspectives of marginalized and underrepresented groups. My goal is to inform, educate, and engage the public on the issues that matter to them, and to hold the authorities accountable for their actions and decisions.
