Claim your profileI run a radio station. Well, multiple stations. Really, I hire students at BYU-Idaho, teach them how to be journalists, radio hosts and creators and they mostly run the radio station. This is where I started my broadcast career. I returned to radio after 10 years in TV news. I'm now the Radio Services Supervisor for BYU-Idaho Radio. I graduated from BYU-Idaho in 2004. I started producing newscasts at KIFI Local News 8 while in my final semester at college. I went from a pre-taped morning show -- I was the anchor, editor and producer -- to producer of the 6 p.m. news. Then our company was sold to NPG (News Press & Gazette) and we started a new two-hour morning show, which I was asked to create and produce. From there I became the Executive Producer and 10 p.m. newscast producer. In 2011, I moved my family to Colorado Springs to be the Executive Producer at KKTV 11 News. I got to work with some amazing people. We moved into a brand new, state-of-the-art, building at the beginning of 2014. One of the biggest challenges while in Colorado was dealing with major fires and flash flooding. In 2012, a fire first threatened, then destroyed neighborhoods. We were on the air for 130 hours straight. Those were some long days. In 2013, another fire roared through a community. That was followed by flash flooding created, in part, by the fire in 2012. Specialties: Writing, writing, writing. Podcasting has become a major part of what I do. Mentoring is the bulk of what I do now. I also edit content my students produce.
