Claim your profileI'm a Los Angeles-based NPR correspondent covering the tech industry. Previously, I reported for NPR in Washington on the politics and breaking news beat. Before that, I was at member station WHYY in Philadelphia where I focused on criminal justice, courts and other assignments. Prior to broadcast, I cut my teeth working on the Metro desks of daily newspapers, and I take the instinctual news judgement and public records obsession I learned during those years with me in my reporting as a public radio journalist. Along the way, I've written and reported for The New York Times, The Washington Post, BuzzFeed, New York Magazine, The Atlantic, The Oregonian, Washington City Paper, Ad Busters, The Chronicle of Higher Education and other publications. I'm a first-generation college student from a Northeast Pennsylvania working-class family. Email: ballyn@npr.org https://www.npr.org/people/638550790/bobby-allyn
