A seventh generation Oregonian raised in Tillamook County, he previously covered the Los Angeles Lakers for The Athletic and the Orange County Register. Before that, he worked for The Salt Lake Tribune, covering sports at all levels, including the 2012 London Olympics. He has won numerous awards for his columns and feature writing.
