Claim your profileI'm a Washington-based journalist with more than a decade of experience covering national security, justice, and the inner workings of U.S. political power. From Capitol Hill to the streets of my hometown during times of unrest, I’ve built a career grounded in rigorous reporting, trusted sourcing across the aisle, and a commitment to connecting policy decisions to the people most affected by them. At ABC News, I report on Justice, Homeland Security, and the broader national security landscape for both broadcast and digital platforms. My coverage spans high-stakes oversight hearings, evolving cyber threats, and exclusive interviews with lawmakers, law enforcement, and community leaders. I was on the ground at Black Lives Matter Plaza during the George Floyd protests, reporting in real time as the National Guard deployed in Washington, D.C. Since then, I’ve chronicled the military’s evolving role in civilian life, from moments of crisis to commemoration, including the U.S. Army’s 250th anniversary parade. My master’s thesis at Columbia Journalism School examined the legacy of women who served in Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan, tracing the generational threads of service, sacrifice and strength. Before joining ABC News, I spent four years at Politico, where I hosted and produced Today in Trumpworld, a daily video series breaking down developments between the White House and Capitol Hill. I’ve reported on the political rise of both Tulsi Gabbard and Kamala Harris since 2012, from their early days in Congress to the 2020 campaign trail. My in-depth coverage of Gabbard, now Director of National Intelligence, includes breaking exclusives on her foreign travel, bipartisan alliances, and policy priorities. Throughout my career, I’ve earned the trust of key figures while maintaining editorial independence and a reputation for fairness. I’ve filed from the Pentagon, the White House, courtrooms, and oversight hearings, and from the scene of some of the country’s most pivotal moments. My reporting has appeared in Harper’s Bazaar, Glamour, and other national outlets, and I’m known for sharp enterprise reporting, digital versatility, and the ability to distill complex issues with accuracy and clarity. I’m always open to collaborations, tips, and cross-platform reporting opportunities in national security, politics, and technology. Let’s connect. Contact: beatrice.e.peterson@abc.com
