As a journalist, there is one thing I know for certain: diversity, equity and inclusion is not just a beat. It's something that I strive for every day in my reporting. There will always be an angle and need for diverse voices in the stories we pursue. That's a lesson I bring to the table every day. From working on Capitol Hill as a congressional reporter, being editor-in-chief of my university's first and only Black newspaper to working at the Washington Business Journal as a minority-owned business reporting intern. DEI is something we must always tap into - and can be expected in my pitches.
