Claim your profileI am an investigative reporter with ABC 15 Arizona. Before that, I was with The Arizona Republic newspaper and azcentral.com in Phoenix. My 2021 investigation “Licensed to Abuse,” about massage therapists who abuse their clients, led to sweeping regulatory changes in Arizona, including the replacement of the entire state massage therapy board and a new law that requires more stringent background checks for massage therapists beginning in January 2023. My 2019 investigation into an obscure Arizona law that allowed funeral directors to take over the estates of dead people and charge their estates exorbitant burial fees led to a new law in 2020 outlawing the practice. I was part of the 2018 Pulitzer-Prize winning team in explanatory reporting for "The Wall: Unknown stories, Unintended consequences" about the planned 2,000-mile wall along the U.S.-Mexico border. I also was part of the team that won a 2018 George Polk Award for revealing how Arizona allows charter-school operators to make huge profits off public education dollars. Before coming to the Republic, I worked at daily and weekly newspapers in Arizona and Illinois. I was editor of the award-winning Paradise Valley Independent, a weekly newspaper serving northeast Phoenix. I am a magna cum laude graduate of Southern Illinois University with a bachelor's degree in journalism and a minor in history.
