Claim your profileI am a journalist experienced in covering daily and enterprise news for both national and local news outlets, particularly focused in education reporting. In recent years I have fallen in love with the education beat in journalism, and as a reporter for K-12 Dive (Industry Dive) I have primarily covered the ways cybersecurity, staff shortages, edtech, school nutrition and family engagement policies shape the education sector for better or worse. When I can, I love to integrate charts using publicly accessible or requested data into my stories, too! In August 2022, I also began a monthly feature series exploring various solutions and aspects of the education workforce shortage, called Staffed Up. Got any story ideas about K-12 that fall under these interests? Feel free to email me at amerod@industrydive.com.Before Industry Dive, I spent the past three years working as the education reporter for The Winchester Star in Winchester, Va. In 2017, I graduated with a dual bachelor's degree in Newspaper and Online Journalism at Syracuse University. I also have a minor in Political Science, because I am interested in writing stories about policy and politics and the people who are directly impacted by them. Since I began my time at SU in 2013, I have more than 1,500 articles published across eight online and/or print news publications including Industry Dive, MSNBC.com, NBCNews.com, The Winchester Star, ARLnow.com, The Daily Orange, Jerk Magazine and Talk Media News.
