Claim your profileAndrew is the news editor at @TheWireChina, as well as the co-founder and presenter of the podcast ‘Asia Matters’. Prior to these roles he had 16 years’ experience as a financial journalist with The Wall Street Journal, much of which was spent in Asia. At The Wire, Andrew run and edits the news section of the weekly magazine, including its new analysis pieces, interviews, op-eds and the graphics-led 'Big Picture'. Away from The Wire, Andrew is also the host of a new podcast called ‘Asia Matters’, which delves into the biggest stories taking place in the world’s most exciting region. Andrew’s last role at the WSJ was running the Heard on Street column from its Hong Kong bureau, where he also ran a team of reporters across the Asia region covering the full range of markets and companies. Previously Andrew was the WSJ’s Europe resources editor in London, overseeing coverage of Europe's major resource companies from BP to Glencore, and OPEC. Prior to that Andrew was deputy editor of Heard on the Street in London, where he wrote and edited columns about corporate and economic issues in Europe. Before moving back to London, Andrew wrote the Heard column from the WSJ’s Beijing bureau. Andrew also covered the UK economy from 2004 to late 2007 from London, specializing in reporting on the UK Treasury. Andrew joined Dow Jones in 2003, covering the UK financial services sector. Andrew has appeared as a commentator on WSJ’s own videos, the BBC, Sky News and BBC Radio among other stations. Earlier in his career Andrew worked for PwC, becoming a UK-qualified chartered accountant in late 1999 prior to working with PwC in Tokyo until early 2001. He also spent a year working with PCA Asset in Japan, part of the Prudential PLC group. Andrew has a BA degree in Modern History from Oxford University. He also has a Diploma in Economics from the University of London. Andrew speaks good Japanese (Level 2 Japanese Proficiency Test) and Mandarin Chinese (HSK Level 5). A devoted cricket fan, he also completed the London triathlon in 2012, 2013 and 2014.
