For almost 15 years, I've been lucky enough to live that dream in my home of Central New York.I'm the senior reporter at NewsChannel 9, covering the major stories of Central New York, including breaking news, investigative reports and politics.Since January 2021, I've had the honor of hosting NewsChannel 9’s weekly public affairs and news talk show, “Newsmakers with Andrew Donovan,” airing Fridays at 12:30pm on NewsChannel 9. The show re-broadcasts Saturdays at 5:30am and Sundays at 5:30pm.Prior to working Syracuse, I worked at the station I grew up watching, WKTV NewsChannel 2 in Utica. I'm grateful to have been hired as a digital media producer in 2006, still a high school student. By the time I moved on in 2013, I was reporting, managing digital media content on WKTV.com and mobile apps and coordinating all special projects for both on air and online.A dream experience came in the summer of 2010, when I had the opportunity to spend a semester as an intern at NBC News. Based at 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York, the network's world headquarters, I learned from different facets and units of the news division. I was asked to come back and fill in as an executive assistant to the president of strategic initiatives at NBC Universal.Using my references at NBC, I was able to contributed behind-the-scenes to NBC News' coverage of the Second Inauguration of Barack Obama from their studios on Capitol Hill.I'm a proud alum of Hobart and William Smith Colleges, graduating in May of 2012 with degrees in history and political science. My passion of broadcast news was well known by my classmates and teachers on campus. I was hired as Social Media Coordinator for the Office of Communications and helped organize campus events like the President's Forum Series and the annual Alumni/Alumnae Reunion.
