Claim your profileI am a leading television journalist with 25 years professional experience as a videogame expert, head editor, head of department, presenter, author and on-air reporter with two of Europe’s biggest television networks, in both the private and public sector. I am currently General Manager at the non-profit public access television station www.h-eins.tv in Hanover, Germany. Previously, I had worked for the German television network ZDF for nigh on 15 years. My main areas of expertise next to videogames are pop, youth and underground culture since the seventies, focussing on music, films and comics mainly. I have been a news journalist for the most part, so I report about politics, economics and science just as much. For six years, I was part of the heute-journal, Germany's leading news and current affairs programme. Prior to that, I developed and oversaw the production of the highly successful competitive gaming format FTW – For the Win on ZDFkultur and was also solely responsible for planning and overseeing special online projects, as well as developing cross-media formats. I regularly attended and produced television, print and online content at trade fairs and events around the world, including the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles, the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas and the World Cyber Games in South Korea. I have also interviewed numerous celebrities like Halle Berry, Snoop Dogg or Sacha Baron Cohen, leading technology entrepreneurs and almost all important videogame developers. I have produced on-screen trailers for award ceremonies and music videos. I regularly host videogame events such as award ceremonies and panel discussions, both in English and German. I successfully finished both my college and university degrees in Great Britain and speak native English as well as native German. From 2005 through 2014, I wrote an investigative blog about the videogame industry, falafelkid.com, alongside my professional work, where I have been able to publish exclusive news stories, focusing mainly on Nintendo’s Wii console. The site has attracted more than two-and-a-half million page impressions in those years.
