I often do book projects in partnership with my wife, Susan Heard, an excellent line editor and copy editor who has worked for Outside, Wired, the New York Times, the Santa Fe New Mexican, and New Mexico Magazine.I've worked as an editor and writer at numerous publications—including Outside, Wired, the New York Times Magazine, the New Republic, Spy, the Washington Monthly, and the Washington Post Magazine—and I'm the author of two books: "The Eyes of Willie McGee" (2010) and "Apocalypse Pretty Soon" (1999). Several articles I've edited have been selected in best-of anthologies, including The Best American Travel Writing and The Best American Sports Writing.
