Renowned for his compelling interviews, storytelling, & in-depth reporting, Alex brings a wealth of experience to the newsroom. A graduate of the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alex earned a B.A. in Communications & was honored with the Alpha Epsilon Rho Award for Outstanding Broadcast Senior. During his time at the university, he excelled as news director, anchor, & reporter for the campus TV station, & further honed his skills as a reporter & anchor at WTBC-AM/WUOA FM. Alex’s recent accolades include Emmy Awards for Memphis on a Mission: Breaking the Cycle & Memphis on a Mission: Team Read Specials. He was nominated for an Emmy for his impactful coverage of the Frayser Unrest protests. His portfolio includes coverage of significant events such as the MLK50 commemoration, President Barack Obama’s inaugurations, & the White House’s In Performance at the White House: Memphis Soul. Alex has conducted exclusive interviews with Elton John & Stevie Wonder, & secured unique access to high-profile events including the Lennox Lewis vs. Mike Tyson fight. His coverage also included one-on-one interviews with Oscar winners Tom Hanks, Morgan Freeman, Denzel Washington, Mo’Nique, & Hip-Hop pioneers, Three 6 Mafia. Alex's reporting has spanned a wide range of subjects, from the COVID pandemic, Memphis Tigers’ Road to the Final Four Championship to in-depth profiles for Le Bonheur Children's Hospital, & pivotal elections. Notable moments include cohosting WREG's Grammy Special, interviewing Jeopardy!’s Alex Trebek about his cancer battle, & investigations into the deaths of Tyre Nichols & rapper Young Dolph. In addition to his journalism career, Alex is committed to the community, volunteers with Team Read for MSCS, & serves as an Angel Tree Ambassador for the Salvation Army.
