Claim your profileAlberto is a correspondent-at-large for Europe at Bloomberg News. He focuses on scoops and original reporting. He has broken major stories, including on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and its interference operations in Europe, the Brexit negotiations, EU trade policy and the G7/G20. Prior to Bloomberg, he was the Europe Editor at BuzzFeed News where he reported on European politics, international relations and diplomacy. Among others, he broke stories on Russia’s attempts to influence European political parties and the U.K. government’s secret Brexit impact assessments. Alberto has been shortlisted for scoop of the year at the British Journalism Awards, was a runner up at the Foreign Press Awards and part of a team that won news website of the year at the U.K. Press Awards. Before joining BuzzFeed News, Alberto was the Data Editor at the Guardian. His work included coverage and analysis of European elections and politics. In 2016 he won the Royal Statistical Society's statistical excellence in journalism award. In December 2008 he co-founded Tweetminster, initially as a service to find and follow MPs on Twitter. Many of the ideas Tweetminster pioneered during the 2010 UK general election have since become standard industry practice. From 2012, Alberto's primary focus at Tweetminster was @electionista, a live feed of breaking news and opinion polls from over 100 countries around the world using data and new formats. He's the former CEO of UnLtdWorld the online platform for social entrepreneurs, acquired in 2011 by Guardian News and Media. Alberto was responsible for setting overall direction and strategy for the company, and led it from concept to exit. As an undergraduate he was Chief Editor of the Italian edition of cafebabel.com. He has made numerous media appearances and has spoken at dozens of international conferences. He holds an MA in Media and Communication Studies and a BA in Political Science, and is passionate about food, football and film.
