Claim your profileI’ve been covering the business and politics of energy for a decade, starting with the oil price bust of 2014. In the following years, I wrote about a range of domestic and global topics for CNBC.com: the rise of US shale production and exports, the emergence of OPEC+, Iranian energy sanctions, petrostates and the seismic shift in energy policy between the Obama and Trump administrations. I developed the series Crude Realities to tell data-driven stories about the collapse in oil prices and the fallout in energy-producing states. I joined S&P Global Commodity Insights in 2019 to cover the gas utility industry. I quickly established myself as an authority on state and local building decarbonization policy and the movement to restrict natural gas use in new construction. The datasets I’ve built around the topic are widely cited by the utility industry, climate activists, regulators and policymakers. I also spearheaded our hydrogen coverage, building critical knowledge ahead of the Biden administration’s focus on the fuel. Additionally, I cover pipeline safety and cybersecurity. I take pride in writing clear, engaging copy to help readers understand complicated topics. As a senior reporter, my duties include helping colleagues develop their skills. I have long taken initiative to mentor younger journalists, starting with news associates at CNBC.com. Prior to graduating from the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism, my formative experiences included running the editorial department at a monthly magazine in Ho Chi Minh City for two years, serving as a teaching assistant for a traditional grammar and usage class at SUNY Albany and freelance proofreading to keep a roof over my head as a young aspiring writer in New York City. I was born and (mostly) raised in Buffalo (Go Bills). I’ve spent most of my adult life in New York City, with layovers in Saigon, Rome and Albany.
