Claim your profileI am a journalist specialising in science and technology. I have reported on mind-reading devices, artificial intelligence and prime numbers, amongst many other things. I have broken many news stories, including when video gaming disorder was about to become officially recognised and a huge data leak at the Cambridge Psychometrics Centre. And I have interviewed amazing people, such as David Attenborough and Kate Crawford. I am currently Comment and Culture Editor at New Scientist, responsible for the Views and Backpages sections of the publication both in print and online. I also currently run our diversity internship scheme. I have previously been New Scientist’s Technology News Editor. I have written a popular science book about how mathematics is used today and I’m currently working on a second. I have a masters in mathematics and a PhD in computer science. I regularly appear on and host New Scientist podcasts, as well as doing the same for the BBC’s The Naked Scientists. I am an experienced public speaker and enjoy hosting events and talks.
