Teghan Simonton

Teghan Simonton is a graduate student at the University of Missouri and research assistant for Investigative Reporters & Editors. At IRE, she works in the NICAR Data Library, analyzing data for newsrooms across the U.S.Before going back to school, Teghan was a staff reporter at the Tribune-Review, a metro daily newspaper covering Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania. Teghan interned on the Investigations team at USA TODAY, based in Tysons Corner, Virginia, and The Chronicle of Higher Education in Washington D.C. She graduated Waynesburg University in May 2019, where she spent two years as Region Editor of the student-run newspaper, The Yellow Jacket. Teghan loves to write data-driven stories about education, health and policy. Her reporting has been repeatedly recognized by the Society of Professional Journalists, the Pennsylvnaia News Media Association, the American Scholastic Press Association, the Newspaper Guild of Pittsburgh and the Women's Press Club of Pittsburgh.
