I am one of Australia’s leading business journalists with more than 30 years’ experience writing about news, trends, people and events changing the nation.Previously I was a senior writer and columnist at The Australian newspaper where I lead the coverage of the financial services industry. In 2014 I started the influential Four Pillars column, which was the nation’s only dedicated financial services column. My reporting and commentary roles included the Hayne financial services royal commission, the Murray financial system inquiry, the global financial crisis, and industry disruption by fintech. I am a global expert on the transformation of Australian banks in response to disruption from technology, regulation and geo-political pressures.Before covering financial services, I was national business correspondent, reporting on news and trends affecting the nation’s top companies and high net-worth individuals.Other senior roles at The Australian include Victorian business editor and writer of the Boardroom business column.I am a multiple award winner and finalist, and a regular commentator on television and radio.I briefly practised law in the 1980s before starting my journalism career at The Sun, and then working at other media outlets including AAP and Business Daily.In my down-time you’ll see me at the gym, trying to catch a wave, or recreating past glories on a tennis court.
