Claim your profileI am the UK correspondent for Dutch newspaper Trouw and based in Manchester since the end of 2021. The nine years before that, I was the southern Africa correspondent for Dutch newspapers Trouw and Het Financieele Dagblad, based in Johannesburg. During my time in South Africa I published two books: 'Alle problemen begonnen met Van Riebeeck' (2021) and 'Liefdes verdriet - verliefdheid, relaties en seks in het Zuid-Afrika van na de apartheid' (2017), which was nominated (and shortlisted) for the M.J. Brusseprijs 2018. In the past, my articles have also been published in foreign media like De Standaard, Knack, De Tijd, De Morgen (Belgium) and The Sunday Times, The Star and Financial Mail (South Africa). My reporting in the UK was shortlisted for the British FPA Media Awards 2024.
