Claim your profileNick Phipps is an Output Editor at Sky News, who has produced the channel’s election night programming since 2014. In a turbulent decade for politics, that has meant four general elections and two referendums, as well as local and national elections across the four nations of the UK. Nick also has responsibility for daily evening news coverage on the channel, including Sky News at Ten and the Press Preview. In December 2024 he was appointed to the Board of Trustees of the John Schofield Trust, which works to improve social mobility in newsrooms through its mentoring schemes for early career and apprentice journalists, and for undergraduate journalism students. Nick has been involved at a senior level in the launch of two multi-platform news operations. In 2011 he was appointed Executive Editor for the launch of Sky News Arabia, the Arabic language service based in Abu Dhabi. Based in the UAE for eighteen months, he led the recruitment and training of a team of 100+ output journalists and creative staff across tv and digital platforms, and devised the channel's schedule. In 2002 he was a consultant in the launch of National TV’s news operation in Romania. Between 2008 and 2011, Nick was Head of Business at Sky News, leading the unit through the financial crisis and overseeing its expansion into the market leading operation it is today. Nick began his career at ITN in 1994 as a News Trainee. During his ten years there, he was Programme Editor of the ITV Evening News and was part of the newsgathering team which won an RTS award for its reporting of the football violence at Euro 2000.
