He previously covered the worlds of Wall Street and Silicon Valley for The New York Times for nearly a decade, dividing his time between New York City and the Bay Area. His work has been frequently featured on television, radio and in film. His first book "Digital Gold: Bitcoin and the Inside Story of the Misfits and Millionaires Trying to Reinvent Money," told the origin story of Bitcoin and was an Amazon Editor's Pick as well as a New York Times Book Review Editor's Choice. It was a shortlisted for the Financial Times Business Book of the Year award. His most recent book book, "The Trolls of Wall Street," tells the story of the generation of young men who became obsessed with money and trading through Reddit and Robinhood. It will be published in 2024 by Dey Street Books, an imprint of Harper Collins. Before working at the Times, Nathaniel was a reporter at the Los Angeles Times and the Forward. He lives in the Bay Area with his wife and kids.
