As a project manager at The Atlantic, Nancy shepherds high-impact editorial projects like The Secret History of Family Separation, which earned the 2023 Pulitzer Prize for Explanatory Reporting. The project was named a finalist for the 2018 Online News Association's Best Feature award for small newsrooms.While at The Tennessean, she was a reporter on the breaking news team, which was recognized as a Pulitzer Prize finalist for its coverage of the most devastating flood in Nashville history. Her work has also earned first-place awards from the Tennessee Press Association for Best Education Reporting and Best News Reporting. Nancy is adept at breaking news, digital storytelling, newsroom project management, SEO strategy, and developing innovative ways to tell stories that resonate with national audiences. She is passionate about building newsrooms that reflect the diversity of the communities they cover. Nancy is experienced in recruiting, hiring, and mentoring young journalists. She has spent years helping newsrooms shape their coverage to reach communities of color and marginalized groups.
