Claim your profileColorado has known Monika's voice for nearly 35 years. Classical program director since 2013 for Colorado Public Radio, Monika also hosts Saturday middays on CPR Classical. Monika was integrally involved in creating the nationwide Classical Public Radio Network, during which time her feature productions won national and international awards. Monika closely followed the rise of the El Sistema movement around the world and in the United States, having interviewed El Sistema founder, José Antonio Abreu and LA Philharmonic Music Director, Gustavo Dudamel. Apart from her work at CPR, Monika felt personally impassioned to see Denver’s underprivileged children benefit from El Sistema’s riches by providing them free, intensive access to ensemble music. In 2011, she led the grassroots effort to begin El Sistema Colorado, launched January, 2012 and now serving the students of three Title 1 Denver Public Schools and those in the Denver Curtis Park / Five Points neighborhoods.
