Claim your profileFor 25 years I have worked in the magazine industry, as an editor, writer and reporter, with one foot in print and the other in digital. I am currently Senior Editor for News at Wine Spectator, writing 10 to 15 features a year, specializing in longform profiles of winemakers, restaurateurs and industry leaders. My goal is to bring the people who produce great food and great wine to life for readers. My cover stories include profiles of Bernard Arnault, Danny Meyer, Angelo Gaja and Piero Antinori, and I edited and co-wrote our 2009 and 2015 cover stories on counterfeit wines and the U.S. Justice Department's pursuit of master forger Rudy Kurniawan. Since 2007, I have worked as News Editor at WineSpectator.com, coordinating, assigning and editing daily news from the world of wine targeted toward consumers and trade. I have cultivated a talented corps of staff and freelance writers and made numerous friends in the wine and food world. I am a regular contributor to Straight Talk, Wine Spectator's monthly podcast. I spent 6 years a a political reporter at Time magazine, where I covered the 2000 and 2004 elections, spending time on the campaign trail with George W. Bush and John Edwards. I covered the 9/11 attacks and resulting wars against al Qaeda and Iraq. I was a regular guest commenter on television and radio, including the Today Show, the News Hour, CNN and Fox News. I have written two nonfiction books for young adult readers: Understanding September 11th and Understanding the Holy Land. In 2010, my wife and I relocated to her hometown, New Orleans, hoping to document and support the city's resurgence, and enjoying some of America's best food, music and culture. I have worked remotely since then, hitting the road to New York or wine country when a good story calls.
