Claim your profileMiguelángel López is the Regional Vice President of News and Content for Telemundo’s WTMO Orlando, WRMD Tampa, and WWDT Fort Myers. In this role, he oversees the strategic direction, news operations, and multiplatform content production across these stations. His leadership ensures the delivery of essential news, weather, investigative reporting, and original programming across TV, streaming, and digital platforms. López brings over 23 years of industry experience to his current position, with a career deeply rooted in the Telemundo Station Group and NBCUniversal. Before taking on his regional vice president role in April 2024, he served as Vice President of News at WTMO Orlando. There, he played a pivotal role in shaping the station’s news strategy and operations, enhancing the station’s impact in the Orlando market. Prior to his work at WTMO, López was the Vice President of News for KTLM - Telemundo 40 in the Texas Rio Grande Valley. At KTLM, he managed all aspects of the news department, including local productions for both broadcast and digital platforms. He was responsible for strategic planning, talent development, and ensuring high-quality news coverage that met the needs of both U.S. and Mexican audiences. López’s tenure at KTLM began as an Executive Producer, where his efforts were instrumental in building and expanding the news team. His success in this role led to his promotion to News Director in 2014, where he managed the station’s entire news operation. During his time as News Director, López played a key role in developing a dynamic and versatile newsroom and studio within a state-of-the-art facility. Earlier in his career, López gained significant experience working as a special projects producer for Telemundo Network, where he was responsible for creating and distributing special content for various news and entertainment programs. He also served as a senior producer for the Emmy Award-winning morning show Un Nuevo Día and worked as a correspondent and producer for Telemundo Network in Puerto Rico. Committed to fostering the next generation of journalists, López is an active mentor and coach within the Telemundo Local Academy, a hands-on training program for undergraduate journalism students pursuing careers in local broadcasting. He mentors students at the University of Florida, the University of Central Florida, and Sacred Heart University in Puerto Rico, guiding them to develop the skills necessary to serve bilingual audiences through careers in local journalism.
