Claim your profileI am an award-winning reporter and technologist who has written about diving and diving technology for more than 30 years and coined the term “technical diving.” In addition to my reporting duties, I am the co-founder and the editor-in-chief of Global Underwater Explorers’ (GUE) online magazine InDepth, and a senior editor for DAN Europe’s Alert Diver. I am also a member of the Rebreather Training Council (RTC) My magazine “aquaCORPS: The Journal for Technical Diving” (1990-1996)” helped usher tech diving into mainstream sports diving. I also produced the first Tek, EUROTek and ASIATek conferences, and organized Rebreather Forums 1.0 and 2.0, and more recently (2023), I organized Rebreather Forum 4, held in Valletta, Malta. In addition to tech and cave diving, I am an avid U.S. Masters swimmer. I have also worked as a freelance journalist reporting on business, finance and technology for more than 25 years. My articles have appeared in such diverse magazines as Alert Diver, Bass Player, Bloomberg Personal Finance, Business 2.0, Crain’s Chicago Business, Diver, Discovery Channel, Hospital & Health Networks (H&HN), Industry Standard, Newsweek Japan, Outside, Scientific American, Undercurrent, Wired and X-Ray magazines.
